Jennifer Hooker, MHS, PA-C is a board-certified and licensed physician assistant who joined South Suburban Family Medicine – Denver’s Diet Doctor team in 2018. She completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice course from the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2018 and is undergoing certification currently. She has completed nearly 200 hours to date of continuing medical education in functional, ancestral, and integrative medicine. She seeks to address the underlying driving factors of chronic illness and works hard with her patients to reverse disease and optimize health.
Jennifer is a Colorado native and excited to be back in her home state. Her passion for ancestral health began several years ago after her own struggles with being overweight led her down the high-carb, low-fat road and further health issues. Jennifer found solutions though the ancestral approach to diet and lifestyle. She loves helping her patients navigate through the confusing and often contradictory nutrition advice that is so common today, and assisting them in preventing progression and even reversing their chronic health conditions. She emphasizes the importance of a pre-agricultural, whole, unprocessed diet for disease prevention and health maintenance.
Jennifer completed her physician assistant training and received her master’s degree in health sciences at South College in 2015, and her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Regis University in 2010. She has more than 14 years of experience in the healthcare field, caring for people of all ages. In her free time, she loves getting outside for hikes, and being active in yoga and CrossFit.
