Redefining Healthy Nutrition with Dr. Gerber

Watch our interview with Sam Feltham from Smash The Fat Fitness & Fat Loss Boot Camps in the United Kingdom. The discussion includes:

  • The standard nutritional guidelines, medical education and the progression of chronic disease since the 1980s.
  • Personal discoveries as a family physician with 25 years of experience. Redefining nutrition after the 1st 10 years of my career.
  • Using ketogenic, low carb, high fat, nutrient dense diets especially for type II diabetics and pre-diabetics, but that one diet may not be appropriate for all.
  • Acknowledging evidence supporting (or not supporting) these non-standard diets and recognizing the need for more research and discovery. We clearly do not have all the answers.
  • Integrating the standard medical model with that of a more functional approach, using nutrition as a tool to treat and prevent chronic disease.
  • Redefining the delivery of primary care.
  • Finding common ground regarding sound nutritional advice.
  • Acknowledging social media’s contribution to the raging nutritional debate.
  • Redefining the role of cholesterol in cardiovascular disease.
  • Discussion with Ivor Cummins about vitamin D and other fat soluble vitamins, nutrient dense foods, health and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Gerber is very humble in spite of his profession. I have learned a lot from this conversation. It is very important to eat natural foods (fruits and vegetables). He even mentioned the traditional approach and the modern approach and combined it. In our family, we practice this Indian ayurvedic medicine/diet. It helps to have a proper digestion and have many health benefits to enjoy. This ancient medical system is one of the fastest paths to health.
